DeKalb County Commission Meetings
The Board of Commissioners is the legislative policy making branch of DeKalb County Government. The Board is responsible to the citizens for development and administration of policies and the annual budget. The Board has 14 members who are elected to office for a term of four years from districts selected according to population. They are assisted by a number of citizen advisory boards and commissions. It may take action on any programs for the improvement of the county and the welfare of its residents. This office can provide information regarding meeting dates, agenda items, and supply applications for the various advisory boards and commissions.
Meetings
Regular meetings of the County Commission are held on the fourth Monday night of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the downstairs courtroom of the DeKalb County courthouse unless otherwise advertised. The meetings are open to the public and usually aired live on 101.7 WJLE radio station.

The DeKalb County Commission will hold a public comment period at the beginning of its formal County Commission meetings. Each member of the public may have three minutes to speak during this public comment period. There are no requirements in order for the public to have the opportunity to speak. The members of the public do not need to give any prior notice to the County Commission or any others before given the opportunity to speak. Once the floor is given to the public any member of the public may speak without prior notice until the public comment period has ended. Each member of the public will have one opportunity of three minutes to speak on the matters that they choose. DeKalb County Government encourages the public to voice their concerns and display their take on the current events.
