REQUIRED SUBMITTALS
PERMIT APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
CHANGE OF OCCUPANCY/USE Additional documentation may be required when changing use or occupancy classification. INSPECTIONS Footing, framing, rough-in, and final inspections may be required. Work must not be concealed prior to inspection. ELECTRICAL Electrical permits and inspections are conducted by the State of Tennessee. STRUCTURES NOT REQUIRING A PERMIT Detached garages, sheds, barns, decks, and pole barns that are not occupied or conditioned. If insulated, heated, cooled, or occupied, a permit is required. ACCESSORY & AGRICULTURAL STRUCTURES Agricultural buildings used solely for farm purposes may be exempt. All structures must still comply with applicable building codes and setback requirements where applicable. DeKalb County does not have countywide zoning regulations. FEES Residential: $0.75 per square foot Commercial: $1.00 per square foot Renovations: Commercial- $0.50 per sq ft. -- Residential- $0.35 per sq. ft. The fees calculated include all required inspections, up to 3 re-inspections and plan reviews. IMPORTANT NOTES
